Details of Organisation We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking and creative person to join our highly-regarded Finance Group as a Graduate Trainee on a fixed term training contract to qualify as a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).Your training will include exposure to many aspects of the finance function within a large, complex organisation whose turnover exceeds £1bn per annum. We offer a supportive training scheme including day release, study leave and the support and mentoring of experienced colleagues.
The Graduate Trainee (Finance) will undertake a programme of professional study leading over three years to the CIPFA professional accountancy qualification. In addition the post-holder will participate in the County Council’s wider graduate trainee programme, being one of an annual cohort of trainees, providing mutual support and gaining a good understanding of the Council and its business.

Vacancies We are looking to recruit 1 CIPFA trainee in 2010

Key Responsibilities Trainees will be involved in a series of challenging and diverse placements, both supporting day-to-day operations and taking a lead in projects. Trainees will experience a broad range of specialist areas within finance, including financial planning, corporate accountancy and management accountancy. Whilst developing their skills and expertise through the placements, trainees will be undertaking the CIPFA professional accountancy qualification.
Salary (£) Training Salary £17,161 to £23,708 in addition to CIPFA sponsorship (CIPFA registration, tuition and exam fees). Please note that Lancashire County Council is currently concluding a job evaluation exercise and as a consequence the grading / salary of this post may be increased or decreased.

Minimum Requirements In order to take up this opportunity, you will require the minimum of a 2:2 degree or equivalent in any discipline, plus 240 UCAS points and GCSE Mathematics grade A-C (or equivalent). You will need to be an effective communicator, be highly motivated, numerate, a teamworker and be able to develop excellent working relationships with colleagues across the Council.
