Ravi is working for Leicester City Council. The scheme includes placements in different departments every six months as part of the graduate programme. He is currently in Resources Accountancy working on areas such as budget monitoring, Journals, recharge calculations etc.

Why did you choose CIPFA?
Because of the emphasis on the public sector (important seeing as I work in it!) and also the CPD and voluntary network that CIPFA has appealed to me.

Why did you want to work in the Public Services?
Public sector has other priorities apart from profit. Ensuring a level of service is delivered to the public. More satisfaction gained from knowing that people will benefit indirectly as result of my actions as opposed to the private sector where you may only be a tool for which directors/partners use to increase their wealth.

What are your career ambitions?
To get into a role where I can use my ability and talent! Possibly as a Director of Finance. Although at the moment I am happy in Local Government, perhaps at some point in the future I could see myself working in the NHS or Central Government.
