Meeting ‘the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’

Welcome to the CIPFA sustainability website where you will find a range of information and resources including: news items, an introduction to sustainability, events, publications, the CIPFA Carbon Finance Network and other useful links and resources.

Sustainability is increasingly recognised as an economic as well as a social and environmental imperative. This is reflected in a range of public sector initiatives such as: carbon emissions reduction, energy efficiency, green procurement, waste management, finite resource use, and quality of life.

Accountants have an important role to play in applying their skills to quantifying impacts and integrating sustainability into strategy formulation, decision making, process improvement, performance measurement, reporting and assurance.

Sustainable development represents a considerable challenge. CIPFA is working with our partners to help provide you with the tools and knowledge needed to respond to changes in this area and implement initiatives aimed at addressing sustainability.
