Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy

Since I took on a volunteer role the personal rewards have been enormous. I have learnt a valuable new skill and been welcomed by regional council members.

Eleanor Platt

Eleanor PlattI'm originally from the North-East, but moved to Yorkshire in 2002 to study for a BA and MA in Historical Research at the University of Sheffield. In 2006 I moved back to Newcastle and opted for a change of direction when I began working as a Graduate Trainee Accountant for Newcastle City Council, where I have worked on the Regeneration Finance team, and currently work in the Financial Systems and Control Team. I commenced my CIPFA studies at New College in September 2006, and I'm now studying at the Diploma level.

I became involved with the student society late in 2007, as a way of influencing the events which the society arranges and representing students from my workplace.
