Director of Finance Network
Wales leads the way on collaboration - again!
Are you a Director of Finance or equivalent in a public body in Wales?
Then you are a key individual in your organisation. Perhaps you would like to increase your influence more generally and beyond your organisation? Would you like to tap into the knowledge and experience of your peers and gain a better understanding of other types of organisation? If so, then becoming part of the recently formed Director of Finance Network should be high on your agenda.
Wales is facing tougher times - increasing costs, tight budget settlements, reducing capital receipts, but ever increasing citizen expectations for innovative service delivery. By working together effectively the Welsh public sector is better equipped to meet these challenges.
The Welsh Assembly Government Director of Finance, Dr Christine Daws, has appointed Helen Usher (formerly Director of Finance for WEFO) to develop network activities. Helen is working closely with partners (including CIPFA Wales) to ensure that network activities add real value and don't duplicate the much good work already being undertaken by other groups. The main purpose is to bring together people across sectors to learn from and with each other, and to develop effective, innovative, collaborative solutions to some of Wales' biggest challenges on service delivery.
So far, four regional events have been held, with participants from all parts of the Welsh public sector, to discuss priorities for the network, and share practical experiences of collaborative working. Participants felt these were very useful and so regular further regional sessions are planned
